Johnny Cueto: 2nd Half Forecast

I'm interested to hear some thoughts on Cueto's prospects for the remainder of the year. Things can't get much worse than his last start (8 BB). I wonder if he's struggling with the mental side of the game because he has been known for his great command. Also, how long is his leash before he might be sent back down?

Cueto's pitched a bit better of late, but it seems like hitters aren't too flustered by the change in movement in his pitches, notably the slider.

I actually picked him up off of waivers today in my 12 teamer with rather active managers. His K/IP is still above average and I don't think he's Daniel Cabrera incarnate (due to his superior command) so I have no problem picking him up even if he's only going to ride the bench for the next few starts. I thought similarly about Phil Hughes, but that hasn't worked out quite as well so far .

I agree. I traded Chris Perez for Cueto a few weeks back in one of my leagues.

I think he'll begin to start getting it this year, and when he cuts back on the HRs a bit his numbers will look very sexified.

Regardless of what you do, you can't drop him... and he's a solid buy-low and a MUST pickup guy if on your league's WW. His last outing doesn't worry me much, because he's never had command issues. I think he's just tried getting too cute with his pitches around the plate, trying to curb his HR rate. He'll sort it out, and he's still a threat to K 10 whenever he's out there.

But remember Johan's first full year starting? Struggled for the first 2 months-ish and the only thing that was keeping anyone happy was his decent K-rate?

I think Cueto could have a similar turn around, given the caliber of his stuff.
