Where will Barmes play when he returns?

Will Hurdle put Barmes at 2nd base when he returns. Tulowitzki should be back at short before Barmes returns. Will Ian Stewart move back to AAA?

Rockies have some tough choices to make. Barmes had been playing second with Quintanilla as the SS until Barmes was hurt. With Tulo back that puts Quintanilla back on the bench. Barmes will have his 2b job back most likely. Its a tough call on Stewart for the Rox but he needs to play everday.

I hope that he doesn't get a job. Omar and Tulo make a good MIF. And Stewart as a fill in at the hot corner, 2B, and SS.

Edited: Sorry about that, I meant to say that he will fill in there, as well as 2B and SS.

He'll play at 2B. Stewart needs more time in AAA, his K rate is astronomical (22 K /45 AB).

His Ks are a really dull spot on his resume.

Remember, Quintanilla, Herrera and Stewart were ALL called up after Tulo/Barmes went down (Baker's in the mix, as well). Therefore, this club will have a major logjam in the infield when Tulowitski and Barmes return.

Barmes was raking at the time of his injury, and should be able to reclaim 2b if he returns with a hot stick. That's far from a given, though.

Stewart's been platooning against righties and seems like the odd man out ... the franchise would be better off with him getting regular ABs in AAA. One of Quint/Herrera will certainly also return to the minors, with the other (maybe) sticking to join Baker as a bench/platoon guy to insure against a Barmes slump.

I remember Barmes was starting at 2nd earlier in the year before Tulo got hurt. I was just wondering if he would at least get a shot at starting once he start.

I'd have to guess Barmes will play 2B when he returns. He was starting there before his injury and playing well. If he hadn't been producing, it would be one thing, but he was great before he got hurt.
