Anyone have any insight on this guy?

Seems to be doing rather well in AA/AAA this year. Isn't he the top SP prospect for the Cards right now?

Could he have a shot at the big club anytime soon?

Debating grabbing him or Chris Davis(Tex) as a long shot to contribute this year....

i really like this lefthander..he was very young 21 at AA last year and pitched well despite a slightly elevated bb/9 (3.92)..OBA was a cool .245...he has been solid at AAA this year and is the cards #1 starting pitching prospect

Think they might call him up? With Wainright hurt & Wellemeyer hurt/getting blown up, he would seem to be the next in line or would it take a Pinero injury?

he's close. Definitely a possibility this year. With the Carp news, the state of Wellemeyer and Pineiro, and Wainwright currently on the shelf I'd almost say it's likely.

Don't forget that Mulder is on his way back. He could be blocking Garcia this year if he turns out well.

Mulder has been "coming back" for a while now. I'll believe he's coming back when he's pitching on a major league mound. And even then I wouldn't put any money on him staying there.

He's a possible road block.

Reyes is having some "elbow discomfort" and Wellemeyer continues to have elbow pain. Garcia may get a spot start soon, but he's one of a few guys that are possibilities.

Reyes is starting tomorrow so I doubt Garcia sees a start soon.

He's here:

Garcia added to Cardinals rotation

Jaime Garcia, SP STL
News: The St. Louis Port-Dispatch reports that the Cardinals have added SP Jaime Garcia to their rotation. Garcia will get his first start on Sunday against the Padres.
Analysis: Garcia is ranked as the top pitching prospect in the St. Louis organization and the lefty, a 22nd-round pick in 2005, was 7-6 with a 3.73 ERA in 18 starts between Class AA and Class AAA this season. He is unquestionably a solid long-term prospect and is also worth grabbing in all NL-only and deeper mixed formats now he's in the rotation. He will get one start in Fantasy Week 16 (July 17-20).

after a mediocre start yesterday...garcia was sent back down to AAA Memphis. Mitchel Boggs was recalled in place of him.
