The guy's been a great 2nd tier option at SS for several years. Last year injuries limited him and he put up an absolute stinker of a season (by his standards, of course). This year he starts off on fire, then goes down with a back injury. His return from the DL has been delayed time and again, and now the dodgers are saying 3 weeks (2 weeks to recover and a week rehab program) at a minimum, but it really seems like they mean "out indefinitely."
What does everyone here think of him? Is he worth taking a gamle on in fantasy leagues? Has he reached the level of a guy you wouldn't touch w/ a 10 foot pole (given his likely trade price vs. perceived risk)? Is he a good buy low candidate or is trading for him a sucker's move?
Where would you rank furcal's value right now vs. each of these guys:
michael young
troy tulowitzki
orlando cabrera
carlos guillen
jeter
tejada
renteria
escobar

the only person id rather have than Furcal (as long as hes hurt) out of those players is Tejada. If Furcal was healthy I would rather have him over all of those guys. You have waited this long with him you might as well wait another 2 - 3 weeks and maybe he can come back healthy and picked up where he left off

He value is lower than everyone on that list except for Tulo.
Completely agree. How can you count on him to be healthy for the rest of the year?
I still look at him as a great buy low candidate. If you can pick him up from a frustrated owner for pennies on the dollar (bench players) then do it. He could wind up stinking it up, or he could wind up being a top-5 SS after the ASB.

As a frustrated Furcal owner, I am not looking to trade Furcal for pennies on the dollar. I've been waiting anxiously for a long, long time now, there's no reason to give up now.
