This really doesn't mean anything if you think it'll improve Buchholz's odds. Different year with some different players and as stated above, these guys have been hitting the ball really well of late. If anything, those that do remember the no-hitter will be gunning for Clay even more this time around.

I don't get what you think the, "spin" is. Everyone knows that the Red Sox like Buchholz over Masterson and this has more to do with Clay than Justin. But given that there isn't a roster spot for Masterson, it makes sense to at least use him in a bullpen that has been bombed. So they really want Clay in the rotation and they really want to use Masterson in the pen. Where's the spin?

This was their plan all along... Masterson will be a starter one day, but they need him in middle relief, they need a true "long man" and who better than Masterson... the only thing i'm surprised with is that they're bringing Clay up before the all star break... and right after a wish wash start...

If you wanted to say that the Red Sox are trying to cut short Masterson's arbitration clock then yes, this would be "spin" but as is, I don't see what you're trying to say.
