I agree. Go with what you need (power or steals) and take the best available for that.

I don't think he's talking about a player to fit into his UTIL spot in his starting line-up (are you?) but rather a player to come off his bench that can play a ton of postions.

I had Desi last season. He's no offensive force, but you can slot him in a ton of places. On my yahoo league, however, he isn't eligible at as many positions this season (yet). They've got him at 2B, 3B, and LF (my league uses specific OF positons). I know he was also eligible at SS last season and maybe RF.

With regards to drafting a player specifically for your UTIL spot in your starting line-up, I don't like doing that prior to filling out the rest of your starting line-up. You are going to have four to eight batters on your bench depending on your roster requirements, just ride the hot hand out of that group.

Good point. It would help if he clarified that and also said what round he was looking at getting this player in.
