Andy LaRoche getting call up tom.?

Loney PH for him vs hoffman. he can DH this weekend - but i think he's strictly platooning vs LHP for now.

LaRoche owners should be happy if he gets that. In about 3 weeks you'll have Furcal and Nomar back. You'd think Dodgers would go with an IF of Loney/Kent/Furcal/Nomar (Nomar's getting paid almost $10 milion). And then DeWitt's still there and needs ABs. Granted, it's hard to see that entire infield stay healthy all year, but it's possible...

So what does this mean? At most, 3 starts a week for the rest of the season with 1B/3B eligibility. At worst, 2-3 starts a week for the next 3-4 weeks, followed by a trip back down to AAA or glorified PH appearances with maybe one start per week... Torre has already said that he only is going to play LaRoche at 2B as a late-inning replacement in a double switch....

nomar's return isn't going to affect laroche's playing time at all immediately. it was reported all over ESPN and ESPNews that nomar will play SS when he comes off the DL. they also said he is going to start a rehab assignment in a couple days. so that means we probably won't see nomar up for another 1 1/2 weeks. so i guess that means nomar will play SS for 1-2 weeks until furcal comes off the DL. so basically laroche needs to prove himself over the next 3 weeks, in the limited duty that he has, to earn a solid amount of starts when everyone is healthy. i honestly believe that dewitt will slow down and laroche will take over 3rd base, and nomar will probably get injured again.
