Commish cheating????

Postby JMB05 » Sun Jun 08, 2008 12:03 am

I am sorry if this dosen't belong here but here it goes, looking for some opinions.

I belong to a 10 team 5x5 roto league. We changed this year to espn as our service, from allstarstats and have enjoyed it so far.

The problem is that with allstarstats the commish had the ability to go back and change player moves for any team as far back as he wanted to. With espn the commish has only 24 hours to go back and activate a player off the DL or input player moves.

This caused some problems the last few years as people noticed retroactive moves pretaining to the commish's team. Things such as unknown players appearing on his team as they hit their hot streaks.

But today I noticed that he put Jorge Posada, who was on his bench, as a DL player waiting to be activated. As of game time he did not activate him, but when I got home on the home page of the league it shows player moves and at 5:02(pacific) 5 hours after the game had ended, Posada was on his team, retroactive to yesterday. The move was made by "league manager," not by the actual team. The team owners do not have the power to do retroactive moves, only league manager.

So, am I right to call him out for cheating? This is a money league where thousands are at stake, but I want to know what level headed opinions are.

Thanks guys ;-D

Are you serious! That sounds like clear, inexcusable cheating to me. I can't even believe that you played in a league again with him as Commish if you already knew that he cheated in the past. I don't know how you should rectify this (since money is involved and I don't know who has it) but I would definitely remove him as Commish for the rest of this year and kick him out of the league next year. There is just no justifiable reason to allow any player to have their player stats added retroactively, particularly when the Commish secretly does it for himself.

Yes: call him out and then kick him out.

Keep his money.
0-3 to 4-3. Worst choke in the history of baseball. Enough said.

I commish my league which is a daily transaction league. If I do not have MY moves in by gametime, I am out of luck. The only time I would imput post game start if is I had emailed another owner with my intended move. As for imputting other owners moves post game start, if they emailed in time, I imput. Sometimes it takes me 1 or 2 mornings before I do it, but they all get done.

Commishs are under harsher scrutiny then anyone else...
