What good do the rankings mean without reasoning? Anybody can look at a mock draft. Let's talk baseball.
All of these pitchers minus Perez, and Lowe should be considered strikeout pitchers. This would seem to be an advantage to me. Honestly, all of these pitchers are quite good. I would rank like this.
Burnett- this guy progressed last year almost as much as any other pitcher in the league. His average against was like .210. Only knock is a bullpen not so good, and a possible injury risk....but what pitcher is not an injury risk?
Wolf- Unhittable in second half. Suffers from consistency problems, but upside is as good as 95% of the leagues pitchers.
Lowe- I see a bit of a drop from last year. Still should be solid. Mechanics SHOULD prevent him from breaking down, but you never know.
Schmidt- Putting it all together. Great team, and bullpen. He has the ability to win 20 this year. K's are a bonus. This is one guy that has an injury history that scares me. Otherwise, he is even higher.
Clement- Nasty stuff. Terribly inconsistent over the years, but I see him settling down and finding his stuff. You will get the occasional ugly stat line. Really don't like the Cubs bullpen, but offense HAS to be better.
Perez- I am thinking this guy has a down year in comparison to his phenomenal year last year. Herky motion probably easier to hit once you have seen it a few times.
You don't need a quadraphonic Blaupunkt, what you need is a curveball!....
