Windy conditions

I was wondering if strong winds favor a pitcher or not. Obviously if the wind is blowing out more flyballs will leave the yard, but does the wind have any effect on a batter's ability to make contact? Specifically I'm looking at tonight's game in Det with strong winds blowing in from right field and how that might affect the scoring.
