Does anyone else literally hate the team they're a fan of?

Just wondering if I'm alone in this. I seriously hate the entire Mariner franchise and wish I could choose another team to root for.

You can choose another team.
It would be harder for you if you live there, and have 20+ years of supporting them, but I did and haven't regretted it.

Sometimes I wish I wasn't a Knicks fan because watching them makes the Baby Jesus cry.

But then it's like, whatever. It'll just make the good times that much sweeter. Hopefully they happen before I go senile.

I look forward to when I can talk about the Knicks without it raising my blood pressure.

like you briefly stated, theres a difference rooting for a team for 2-3 seasons and then jumping ship or not living in the area.

i hated the phillies organization for a long time while ed wade was running it. i never stopped following or even stopped enjoying baseball, but i refused to go to any games until they made a change. with the new stadium, people were just feeding money into the organization with no real return. at least now, the team is run by someone i can respect.

i'm pretty sick of the Tigers right now, yet i'm still slated to go to 5 games this month and pump about $50 in beer, hotdogs and cheese corn into Mr Illitch's pockets each game

and in Detroit we all love to hate the Lions

pretty sick of the current Pistons team too, and i'm casually indifferent about the Wings (recent change from my blatant hatred for them from 98-07)

also looking forward to hating the new Rich Rod led Michigan football team in the fall

I'm intrigued. What in the world made you become a Dodger fan back in 2004? We were still pretty darn lousy. Was it Tru?

As Snakes said, it's easy to switch allegiances when one, the team isn't your hometown team and two, you haven't been supporting them forever.

I do have 20+ years of supporting the M's and lived there (well a couple hours from there) most of my life. From the days of Alvin Davis and Harold Reynolds in the Kingdome to Griffey (and listening to him homering in 8 straight) and Edgar and RJ to the miracle comeback in 95 (Refuse to Lose!) that saved baseball in Seattle to ARod to the opening game at Safeco to 116 wins in 01 and then to the sucktitude that is the Bavasi era. I want them to win so freaking bad but it's tough just watching them continue to make terrible decision after terrible decision. I'm not jumping ship, there's no way. I'm too much of a fan. I'm just frustrated and it sucks.

And yes, I feel for all of you in Pittsburgh, KC, and San Fran too.
