They are sitting on a decent size amount of cash....I'm not sure Moore would fool around with drafting him if he didn't think he had a solid shot at signing him. We'll see, should be interesting to see what happens.

I hope there was at least some forethought before picking him. They took two guys in Hosmer and Melville that both had some really high signing bonus ideas coming into the draft. I don't think they would waste a 4th round pick with no intention of paying well above the slot. So far everything that I've heard is that the chances of getting Melville signed are fairly good, his momma is happy the Royals took him, his high school coach says Melville wants to start his pro career (also said he is a tremendous hitter).

It is sort of a make or break draft for Royals fans. In terms of talent selected I really do believe the Royals came out way ahead in the first round. If they go from a day like this to having Hosmer or Melville not sign due to tight pockets from the organization it will be a major blow to the fan base. But if they do end up dropping $4-$6 million bonuses to both these players then, even if they never pan out, it sends an encouraging signal.

I agree 100%. I think he will have the most productive bat in this class.

I hope they sign them. If they can afford to give Meche and Guillen monster contracts they should be able to spend on the draft.
