I really like Pedro Alvarez, but if this guy can be as good as advertised I think we made the right move.
Thoughts?
Alvarez cost himself the first overall pick in the draft with his signing demands and his play after the injury. They were 1A and 1B before the season with Alvarez being the closer more power driven player where as Beckham was the better set of tools. We made the right choice seeing how Alvarez's 2008 season has gone.

Rays scouts say he is pieces from the following guys: J. Upton, BJ Upton, Orlando Hudson, and Brandon Phillips. (Not bad company) I listened to Beckham on the radio yesterday and he sounds like a great young man. He sounds very down to earth and has a good head on his shoulders. Very good to see

I agree. I was also glad to see the Rays address the lack of true prospects we have in position players in our system. Temptation is always to get more arms, but we were in need of some more position players. Overall I think the Rays did a great job.
Is Jeremy Beckham good as well? I have seen some people like him a lot

Jeremy is not a prospect, but he could be a good pick for us. If he helps settle Tim down any at all being so far away from home, he will be worth the money we pay him.
