What are the projections for José Contreras this season? He's on my Pitching roster with Hudson, Oswalt, Mulder, Willis, Pavano and Izzy. I'm trying to decide what to do with him. Thanks!
I'm huge on Contreras this year... Basically if you pitch for the yankees and your name isn't Jon Lieber, (sorry, i know he's part of the 20 game winner alumni, but i dont expect much from him this year) then ur primed for 20 wins and a shot in the CY Young race.. Contreras will definitely fall in most drafts cuz ignorant ppl will remember his first half, but he was absolutely stellar in the 2nd half. Look for him to carry some confidence and post numbers around:
18 W, 2.90 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 190 Ks
hehe another bold prediction i've made... but being a NY native (definitely not a yanks fan!), i've seen contreras pitch and his stuff is filthy.
Well, I think that Vladdy has the era too high and the k's too high, but I wouldn't be surprised with something like 3.25 and 170ish. And the rest of his numbers aren't bad, either.
I had Jose last year and watched almost every game he pitched. He is the real deal but I don't know about 18 wins and 2.90 ERA. I would say a realistic outlook would be 14-15 wins, 3.50 ERA, 1.25 Whip, and 150-160 K's. He does, however, have the ability to do better than this but he hasn't displayed the consistency yet. Who knows maybe he will this year.
That all depends on how your league is set up. How many teams are in your league? How many pitchers do you have to start. Without knowing your set up, I would say your looking pretty sweet in the pitching dept.!!

It's a 12 yeam H2H league. W, S, ERA, WHIP, K...um, what else?! I listed my pitchers above in my first post. 6 SP and 1 RP (Izzy). He's my only RP.
I forgot that today I picked up A. Rhodes as a FA RP to add to my staff!
In a 12 team league, I would say you are stacked in the pitching dept. Oswalt, Mulder, Hudson, Contreras, Willis, Pavano, and Izzy is a very good staff. I would keep an eye on Willis and Pavano but the rest are nasty and Izzy should save between 35-45 this year.
