My league requires two players at each infield spot and 5 outfielders. This requirement makes position scarcity a bit more urgent due to the relevant lack of talent deep in the 2B, SS, and Catcher pools. I have the fourth overall pick and want a position player. Arod, Pujols, and Soriano are the first three picks. Due to the need for 2 players at each infield spot, is Nomar worth a pick here. Only 2 SS can hit for power and Tejada will definately be gone by the time I pick again at 17. Our league counts traditional 5X5 categories plus Total Bases and OBP. Figure I can get a really good OF or 1B with my next two picks. Would this strategy work or should I just go ahead and pick Vlad, Bonds, or Helton and worry about position later?

I'd say Nomar is worth a shot. There's a good chance he, Renteria, Jeter, and Tejada won't be available by your next pick since the other owners are probably thinking the same thing.
It's time to roll the dice.

as always when you post I am going to recommend that you go best available and leave the positional guys alone until all the big guys are gone... my reasoning is as follows:

i am in the same league as you and follow a strict positional philosophy taking boone and tejada at 13 and 14 (I traded my first rounder to move up big time later on)...

so please draft best available because it will a) leave more guys for me and b) will enable me to continue to be "The Winningest Manager in IBL History"
