My God could you imagine the hitting in that outfield! If they could have suckered the Rangers into taking Griffey and could have gotten Griffey to have accepted you would have one of the best OFs for the next decade. For now you would have had Josh Hamilton, Jay Bruce, and Adam Dunn.
It's a big if that the Rangers would have taken Griffey for Volquez but my God that lineup would have been sick. Me being a Cubs fan says thank God it didn't happen b/c now the Reds are stuck with Griffey's old ass and I can be a Hamilton fan now that he's out of the NL Central.
Thoughts?

Except the Rangers aren't stupid enough to do that. I actually don't think any team would be either.

If any team is stupid enough to do it, the Rangers might be on that list. They have made some pretty crappy decisions in the past is all I'm saying. Why not make one more. I know it was a big if but Hamilton was a big risk to take for a top flight pitching prospect. He has unworldly talent but his past demons, getting injured his first year in the bigs, that's a lot of red flags.
All I'm saying is what if the Rangers had taken Griffey on past merits and knowing that he might help fill stands. Obviously it didn't happen and I'm sure the deal was brought up before Hamilton. I'm just saying what if?

The big what if with Hamilton is what if the Cubs had not been dumbasses and practically gave him away after Rule 5 drafting him to begin with.

Yes, but drafted in the Rule 5 by chicago
Ah I read that as "gave him away IN THE Rule 5 after drafting him to begin with" - makes more sense now.

Hard to blame any team that gave up on him. He missed a lot of time and had some serious problems. Looks like Cincy and Texas both made out well on the deal. Can you imagine if Volquez wins the Cy and Hamilton the MVP?

He's loving it in Arlington.
I think that would be an .882 OPS, unless the OBP or SLG is incorrect...which is still a nice little OPS, but the 1.199 is eye-popping...the .778 SLG in particular.
