Acquired in the Wily Mo Pena trade, the 25-year-old Carter will take the roster spot of David Ortiz. He's hitting .316 with 10 home runs and 35 RBI in 56 games at Triple-A. It's unclear how the Red Sox plan to use him, but his poor fielding makes him best suited for DH duties.
In 07 he hit .316 with 19 homers, in 06 he hit .301 with 19 homers, both were in AAA. I'm not saying he is the next Ortiz, but they gave him the nod over Brandon Moss (A little surprising I guess), but what is Carter's value/upside over the next month while Ortiz is out?
