My questions are:
Junior Spivey is available as a FA, should I pick him up?
Any trades I should consider, Glavine possibly?
Josh Fogg is avialable as a FA, which SP should I drop?
Eric Milton is available as a FA, which SP should I drop?
Mora and Spivey are pretty equal now right down to the fact that neither has been getting enough sb's recently. Go with Spivey if you want the better player, Mora if you're worried about all those guys returning to action in Arizona cutting in on Spivey's playing time.
I'd consider all sorts of trades - if you can upgrade Glavine or turn him into another solid bat, grabbing Fogg afterwards, that might be a good move. Only do this if you get a very good deal for Glavine, however.
I'd be pretty worried about Pudge at this point. If you can deal him to someone who's willing to take a chance on him and/or deal for a better catcher, I'd do this. 2B could also use an upgrade.
Others I'd shop and see if any interesting offers are forthcoming would be Hinske, Guillen or Padilla. You may not get any interesting nibbles, but it's worth a shot.
I don't hink I'd drop any of your pitchers outright for Fogg, but I'd love to make a deal and put myself in position to grab him with a free roster spot. Milton, on the other hand, probably isn't worth it.
On the whole, I'd say you're in great shape. Both your era and avg should be on the rise. A bit more speed wouldn't hurt, and Henderson will have to be replaced at some point. The catching situation is also a little worrisome, but those are all relatively minor quibbles. A little tweaking here and there, and you'll be in the hunt.
Sure. Soriano would normally be too little return for Glavine and Mora, but if the trade winds up in effect giving you Soriano and Fogg, I like it. Targeting Abreu while he's (relatively) cold also sounds like a great idea. Same goes for Hudson.
Padilla plus Marrero for a catcher upgrade (Kendall?) might also make sense. With Fogg available, you can be pretty flexible.
Offering Hinske for the injured Nevin could also be the centerpiece of a deal. And listening to offers for Prior can't hurt either. I think he'll be great, but if you can get a proven stud for an unproven rookie, you might wind up ahead.
Which one? Glavine and Mora for Soriano is more than fair (not including Fogg), Glavine/Mora for Boone/Abreu favors you but might be worth considering for the other owner if he is desperate for pitching.
