Why does the sports media insist on having a love-fest for Joba Chamberlain because he's been named as a starter now. Is this such a huge story that it should be headline news on the front page of many sports websites!?
"Oh, that Lankford and McGee, the trio of 'em. They're a one-man wrecking crew."
If I'm not mistaken, the Jays also faced Phil Hughes in his first hyped up start as a Yankee last year. They crushed him, and won in a shutout. I hope it happens again with Joba on the mound tomorrow agaisnt Halladay.
It is important b/c Chamberlain is a top pitching prospect who pitches for the most popular team in the nation (yuck - I'm an Indians fan myself). Also b/c he had a tremendous debut last season in the bullpen and was absolutely lights out, so it's very controversial whether they should have moved him to the rotation or not.
You can thank the sports media for having such a love affair for the Yankees. I love how I still get to watch them play on ESPN all the time while they are A) Playing like garbage and B) Playing the freaking TWINS. Give me a break.
God forbid they showed oh you know the NL MVP front runner in Chase Utley playing against the young stud that is Jay Bruce. But no, I'd much rather watch the struggling yankees play the struggling twins.
ITs not a conspiracy the way you guys make it out to be. NY is by far the biggest market, with the most fans, the most money, the biggest tv deal in all of sports, the biggest-name players, and one of the most exciting young arms in baseball. Its totally logical that he gets all of this coverage. You guys should hear the 660 AM ny talk radio if you think some national websites are overdoing it with the joba obsession.

Heh, you could reverse it and say that that game is the struggling Phillies against the struggling Reds, whereas the Yankees game has the AL MVP Alex Rodriguez and the young stud in Joba Chamberlain. Totally depends on how you look at it.

Yes the reds are bad, but the last time I checked being 1st in your division with the 4th best record in baseball never qualified as "struggling", at least not to me.
