If that rises up to around .300 or so, he'll be in the 240-245 range in average. Basically, to really get his average up to the 260-265 range, he would have to hit homers as often as guys like Howard and Dunn do...he managed it last season, but quite frankly I don't think he has that much power. I see him ending at: .240-32 HR-95 RBI and being a pretty big bust.
I tend to agree with these numbers, but I don't know how you'd classify those numbers out of a 7th round pick as a bust. No one expected him to repeat his numbers from 2007 during draft day and I'd say those numbers are only slightly below most people's expectations going into the season.

Yeah, it's kind of a goofy scoring category for fantasy baseball but our league commish insisted on including a category that involves defense. I don't mind it so much. It is definitely a pretty big advantage if you can start a 1B at UTIL because having 2 1B in your lineup really helps you rack up the DPT. It's only 1 category but, hey, if you can win it almost every week it helps.
So far so good on my trade for Pena. A HR and 3 RBI last night. Of course, that's only one game. I have low expectations of the guy but I'll live with his miserable average for the power boost he brings to my lineup.

I agree with that 100%. He fell to the 10th round in my keeper league. Why? Because everyone assumed he couldn't produce what he did last year. The guy that has him is frustrated, but he's been about what I expected. Low avg, with some power.
Carlos Pena | 1B | TB Tampa Bay placed Pena (broken finger) on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured index finger on Wednesday, the Tampa Bay Tribune reports. Spin: Pena broke his finger during his first at-bat in Tuesday's loss to Boston. The Rays will re-evaluate the finger in two weeks. The duration of Pena's absence is up in the air. Expect him to miss more than two weeks.
