Jason Bay: Will we see another downfall?

Postby Relentless » Mon Jun 02, 2008 3:27 pm

June was the start of Bay's complete downfall last year. Is it bound to happen again this year or has he completely rebounded back to his 05-06 form?

Btw, before June of last year, he was looking to have another solid season.

Its tuff to say, I think last year, his injuries (knees) was his biggest problem and the fact that Tracy kept moving him around in the batting order. :-C but you got it right, it was around now where his downfall started......

One stat that I like for him this season, is his high walk totals. He is being way more patient at the plate. 40BB and 40K's that is un-heard of for Jay Bay. If that keeps up, he should continue to an excellent season. NOW if only the Bucco's hitting in front of him would get on base once in awhile!!! 13 Big Flies and only 28 RBI's crazy.

I don't think so, I think last season was kind of a fluke...he's been great so far and I think he will keep up his current pace.

I think he'll continue to put together a nice season. I think it was the knee last year that led to his very mediocre year. Plus, he's not going to be with the Pirates much longer. He'll be traded to a contender and I think he'll perform even better in a deeper lineup.

What are some teams you see Bay going to? Tigers,Yankees, White Sox? All would be pretty sweet the way he is performing the Pirates right now ;-D

Just about any ballpark would be an improvment for Bays home power numbers. (though this year he has been hitting well at home)

Being an owner of Bay, I'd rather see him stay in the NL. I don't think switching to the AL and him seeing a whole new array of pitchers will help out with his stats concerning this year.

But there are cases of pure naturals, for example, Hamilton and Braun.

Agreed. A switch to the AL from the NL could produce significantly lower stats for Bay, as he faces better pitching from those he's likely never faced before.

I hear the Mets are pretty interested in Bay and Xavier Nady. But, the Mets traded most of their important players to the Twins in exchange for Santana. So, it might be tough to get a deal done between the Mets and Pirates. Huntington and Coonelly seem to be a lot brighter than that pinhead David Littlefield, so their not just going to give away pretty good players.
