He had a great year two years ago, but was horrible last year. I picked him up off waivers for Jack Cust, hoping to get a more proven sleeper for an unproven one. How are these two going to do this year?

no idea on cust, but konerko is a potential steal off the waiver wire. the expectations are low, and we all know he's got .280/25/90 skills to pay the bills, but the basement jaxx say it best: where's your head at?

personally, i'm liking him as an insurance policy at 1st base. even if he pulls a traditional konerko season (hot as all heck 1st half, terrible 2nd half), in terms of trades, to quote teetering self-parody hawk harrelson: "HE GONE!"

I dont get half of your references, but thanks for the input. My idea was to keep him for the first half and then trade him, because I too saw his opposite-of-JT-Snow performance patterns. Any other ideas?

Dude did you lose your mind while you were gone? You're like the Dennis Miller of the Cafe with some of this stuff.

I'd take Konerko over Cust for sure. Baltimore has too many young bats to feel comfortable about Cust playing every day.

Konerko actually had a much better 2nd half last year, hitting .275 with 13 HRs. I wouldn't want to be relying on him and his streaky nature, but he's got upside as high as .300/30/100 if he stays focused and avoids the slumps all year. So as a reserve, he's not bad.

Good, I wasnt planning to use him as a starter anyway. I have Rafael "viagra" Palmeiro starting.

You need back up then. Don't expect to reap a great deal with Raffy this season. He doesn't hit for average anymore anyway but look for a significant reduction in his power numbers as well.
