Prior #3 in the rotation?!?!

Kerry Wood will start on Opening Day for the Cubs, manager Dusty Baker announced today.
He'll be followed in the rotation by Greg Maddux, Mark Prior, Matt Clement and Carlos Zambrano. "I'm going with Prior after Maddux to give a different look, plus you know Prior can learn a lot from Maddux, I think," Baker said. Actually, it's probably the inefficient Wood who has more to learn by watching Maddux. Still, if he can stay healthy, he'll be a top-10 pitcher.

As if Prior wasn't the #1 fantasy pitcher to begin with, he now has the luxury of facing opposing team's #3 guys. Of course he's not always going to face other #3's but wow. Sky's the limit.

Yeah, don't read anything into that match up with other 3rd starters.

Even if he does go third (and I wouldn't take that comment from Dusty as gospel anyway this far out from opening day) it is possible that is the only 3rd starter he goes onto face again in the season due to differing schedules for all teams.

Yeah, but it won't hurt his value being 3rd, especially when he goes up against guys like whoever the third starters are for Mil, Cincy, and Stl. But it isn't going to have that big of an effect.
