Not so fast. Maddux may have not been lightning in a bottle, but he was still good last year, and you have to consider Maddux's supporting cast as far superior to Mulder. The better Pitcher this year = Mulder. The better fantasy pitcher this year = MAddux. Wins should be the biggest difference stemming from run production.

Mulder will probably have more complete games though.

mulder, provided he stays healthy, will post more wins, more ks, and judging by maddux last year, hell have a lower era as well. and if your league counts complete games, hell throw in a handful of those as well. this is a no brainer.

well semantically, i wouldn't define the cubs offense as "far superior" to the a's, but i would take it.

either way i think mulder is hands down the better pitcher right now, and all of maddux' baseball acumen won't differentiate 10mph between his fastball and changeup, nor will it break his slider to the outside corner that much more.

you very possibly may be right, but for my money i'd stick with agent mulder.

Maddux might pick up a few more wins, but in most leagues thats not gonna be near enough to elevate him over Mulder. Mulder had more Ks than Maddux last year in 30 less innings, and he'll easily have a better ERA and probably a better WHIP as well. And of course, Mulder is just entering his prime while Maddux could fall off the table at any time.

Mulder is the easy choice.
