Worried about Zimmerman??

He has sat our the last 5 games due to a left shoulder injury. He says its not serious and that he'll be able to play the rest of the season even if he has discomfort and won't go on the DL. Lowell and Alex Gordon are on the waiver wire. Should i pick one of them up as insurance??

I'm in the same boat as you with Wigginton as my backup. I need to get a SP, but I wish I knew what was really going on with Zimmerman. Just to let you know what I'm doing, I'm using my one pick to get a pitcher and hoping that Zimmerman comes back. But if you have Lowell and Gordon to choose from and don't have any other lineup issues, maybe picking one of those guys to back you up would be a good idea. Good luck.

Absolutely, I'd take Lowell before Gordon b/c he has been a more consistent performer and has a better strikeout rate, which means he's less likely to have one of those horrendous weeks where he goes like 3-35 with 10 K (Gordon hasn't really had something like that this year, but I'm uneasy about his high strikeout rate).

I actually own them both and am fairly pleased with both, and they are much better than average replacements for Zimmerman while he's injured.

Of course, it depends on depth of league and also who you would have to drop to pick them up...but if you have someone you don't see yourself starting in the next 2 weeks, maybe it's worth dropping them.

Wrong forum, but Zim has gone to the DL since the original post. Lowell's definitely the pick if you can still grab him.
