If you're going to spend money playing in a league, make sure you get in a league which will pay you money back, not a T-shirt or plaque. MLB's Draft and Trade Baseball seems like a good option in that department, but about 10 states consider it a type of lottery, in which case you won't win any money if you participate. Make sure that you don't live in one of those states, and then sign up.
i played espn's fantasy bb few years ago and didn't like it. I didnt like the fact you had to have your roster set for the next day by midnight. with yahoo, you can change rosters as long as game hasnt started.
Have played ESPN league for the past 3 years at USD 25 bucks a pop and won easily everytime. All I've got to show for my efforts is three different coloured T-Shirts (good quality though). I prefer ESPN to free Yahoo but this year can't justify paying the $$$ again just to win another bloody T-shirt.
The main problem with free leagues unfortunately is you always get one or two morons that spoil it for everyone else unless you can get in a Cafe member league. The other option if you know enough people who are into fantasy bb is to set up your own free league in Yahoo and create your own prize pool.

I joined an espn league this year after doing yahoo last year...
the draft interface sucks!!!!! the draft room reloading took forever, and i have a cable modem! It caused me to miss several rounds of picks and stuck me w/ garbage players, I also don't like the way the transaction logs are set up. I like the way yahoo has it showing on the league page... One thing I do like however is the trading block where each manager posts up the players they are willing to trade and what type of players/stats they are looking for in return.
I paid for it already so I have no choice but to crush the competiton.. but in my opinion you should take your $25 bucks and put it toward a yahoo money league!!!!
when i said a yahoo money league, i wasn't talking about their plus leagues. You can find a private league to join where everyone puts up some money, usually 25-50 bucks and the top 3 or 4 places get
the money split up accordingly with the last place that finishes in the money usually making back whatever the entry fee is.
