Just Draft like you would with Experianced Players to start the Draft, after that you can just Draft the players that are falling through the cracks a round or two after they should have gone. When its time to draft Tex you'll know by how the draft is going.

I was somewhat in the same position as you. Talk to them and see what they know. If they say hitting will go late then follow them and grab a couple pitchers early to ensure you get them, then stack on your hitting late, or vice versa. Figure out their gameplan and build yours around that. That's what I did.

Sounds like they stopped following baseball about 5 years ago and just assumed everything is the same.

Why play in a league like this? It will be so boring during the regular season.

I agree with Swarmee...not much challenge or sport in this. It's almost like shooting a dear in the headlites...while the meat might taste good, not much fun or challenging.
Try to educate your friends and give them some valuable websites they can use to upgrade their knowledge/generate cheatsheeets to get started...if they really want to. This I could see being much more fun than steamrolling them all season.
