That is crazy. You have to wonder why the manager didn't yank him after the first IBB. There was obviously a mental problem since that's a throw your average joe can make fairly easily. Footnote: That's the league Ricky Henderson was playing in for awhile.

I was able to make it to one of the Patriot vs. Barnstormer games when I was working in Jersey. The Patriots have a really nice stadium that would make some minor league affiliates jealous.

They were in the bottom of the 12th, it's unlikely, but was he not a regular pitcher? Was he a position player thrown in to save an arm?

It's a pitcher. His name is Lance Odom and he was on the Twins rookie club in '99 and '00.

That's one of the most pathetic things I've ever seen on a baseball field, if not the most.

You see a lot of crazy things in independent baseball. We have an independent league team here in town, and I've seen 300lb 1B's steal a base, I've seen a guy get caught in the chain-link fence in the outfield and hang by his cleats, I've seen guys batting out of order, I've seen pop flies hit guys on the head/hands/chest... I've seen it all. :-D

And if you're ever stuck in Lincoln, NE some summer night, you could do a lot worse than spending the evening at Haymarket Park. It's a darned nice facility. ;-D

It was the consistency of his horrid pitches that made it so...I understand one fluke time where you hold onto the ball too long etc...but consistently almost throwing wild pitches on an IBB? Really? X-I

you know, i dont find it that crazy. it seems like a very simple thing to do but it can be slightly difficult when you're trained to pitch and throw as hard as you can. sure he should be able to do it, but its not that shocking. the shocking part is the manager leaving him in there after he witnessed the first ab.
