A's activate Chavez 5/29

Batting cleanup and at DH today.

He's DH'ing every 3rd day and playing 3B the 2 in between.

The Contra Costa Times reports that the A's have activated Eric Chavez from the disabled list, and that Frank Thomas has been placed on it.

Chavez is making an early return, but he has hit .367 with two homers in thirty minor league at bats, and with Thomas going on the DL, the A's need the spark on offense. He's expected to play third for two days, and then DH every third game. Thomas doesn't think he'll be on the DL for long, but that the A's are being cautious so that he doesn't tear his injured tendon.
