One more argument against league vetoes

Postby Russell James » Thu May 29, 2008 2:44 pm

In a competitive dynasty league that is commissioner review I traded Prince Fielder for Corey Hart and Volquez. The commish put the trade through and immediately a firestorm began across the league. Owners were criticizing me for the move and wanted to veto the trade. The commish stuck to his guns and said that the rules had been decided in the league before the season had started and could not be changed. The trade was not collusive, therefore it could not be vetoed. At the time nobody really thought Volquez was going to be anything more than an average pitcher so they viewed the trade to be a straight up trade for Fielder.

As of right now I'm 2nd place in that league and Hart is hitting for a great average, stolen some bases and hit the same amount of Homeruns that Fielder has and Volquez has been lights out. Fielder has not been so great, not yet at least. If that trade had been tried in a league vote league it would have been vetoed, no doubt about it.

Who knows what this trade will look like in 5 years after Dusty run Volquez shoulder into the ground but as of right now it has worked out well for me.

That's not an argument: that's an anecdote.
0-3 to 4-3. Worst choke in the history of baseball. Enough said.
