peavy's latest injury doesnt appear to be anything serious, just swelling. but is it cause for concern going forward? he has thrown over 200 innings the last 3 seasons, with 223.1 last year. ive also heard concerns about his delivery putting to too much stress on his arm. thoughts?

There was no structural damage from the MRI - I think you can pretty get him on the cheap, I would think he would be worth pursuing

I'm not overly concerned (then again i'm not an owner). But he has been a slight injury risk for some years now. If I recall correctly, his first season in the bigs was interrupted by injury, and again last year he was at the hospital for something else. Not trying to cause a panic or trying to say he's a china doll. Just mentioning that he's ever-so-slightly injury prone.

No worries. I remember him having the same problem in 2004 with an inflammation to his pitching elbow. After a few weeks rest, he came back stronger than ever. With Jake's filthy slider, rest is all he needs sometimes.

He has had always had slightly higher injury concern than your average pitcher due to his delivery. I wasn't all that surprised to see him go down with an elbow issue. As was said by a previous poster, he has come back from this sort of injury before. I am not all that worried about him for the rest of the season, but long-term I'm not as optimistic.
