Brandon Morrow might become a starter

Postby gatorgreenwell » Wed May 28, 2008 10:03 am

"When it comes to the possible conversion of Brandon Morrow from a reliever to a starter, the Mariners are "still in the talking stages," manager John McLaren said this week.

McLaren, however, has come out in favor of the idea, and indicated it will be examined more closely this week. How does Morrow, who has just five professional starts, all in the minors, feel about it?

"It's something I'm in favor of," he said. "But I don't know how far along they are in talking about it."

if they do happen to make the move, i think they'll wait to see what happens with Joba Chamberlain. if the major league transition works out well, they'll probably go the same route.

He basically only throws a fastball and it's flat. Sure, it's 100 MPH, but it's flat.
0-3 to 4-3. Worst choke in the history of baseball. Enough said.

He's a future closer, I don't think he has enough pitches in his repetoire to be a dominant starter. I picked him up to handcuff my Putz, and like him for MR strategy. He has far less fantasy value as a starter in my opinion.

Sounds like a good strategy - I hear Putz isn't right and could head back to the DL soon...
