Colby Rasmus

Early in the season, his slump was written off as Cards coaches were getting to practice hitting to the opposite field. Now it's nearly June and his OPS is .601. Has anyone been watching him hit that can basically explain why he can't do it?

I will be interested to hear some insider info here too because I have never actually seen the kid play. I own him in 2 leagues and drafted him based purely on stats/numbers and all of the hype around here. I hope we can find an insider to break it down

i am no insider but i have read that he has been unlucky this year with his BABIP numbers, and that he has a similar K:BB ratio as last year but he just isn't driving the ball as much. I believe that he will go back to his own hitting style instead of letting the coaches change him, and i think he will recover. I would say he is a good buy low guy right now as his stock has fallen. I still believe in him

He had months like his first two months last year. It's just discouraging that he had 2 in a row to start the season, but it could be entirely related to a change in hitting philosophy the big club wanted him to make.

Hopefully his recent hitting continues and he's strong the rest of the year. The likelihood of a call-up this year may be much slimmer than previously thought, though, especially with the way the current OF is playing and with Mather making it up recently.

True but it is much more magnified when he heads into the year as a top 3 prospect.

When, if at all this season, should we expect Colby to be called up the Cards?

i would take Rasmus over McCutchen and over Maybin but i would rather have Maybin over McCutchen. Also i don't think that Rasmus will play a huge roll in the bigs this year, but if he continues to go on a tear for several weeks i wouldn't be surprised to see an August call up.
