Why did Papelbon earn the save?

He came in at the bottom of the 9th with the score 5-1 Boston leading. Boston was not leading by 3 or fewer runs and he started the 9th. Maybe CBS is making a mistake but I wanted some reasons as to why this is credited as a save.

I think CBS just made a mistake - I noticed this too. Both Yahoo! and ESPN have him as not getting a save though, so I think they are right. I don't think his error at the beginning of the inning changed anything other than making his runs unearned (which was nice ))
