Mets fans, what's the deal with him? I've heard 2 or 3 times he's supposed to be back, then he gets benched and pinch hits late and burns a game for me. When is he coming back and what is taking so long?
Still woozy... I read somewhere that he might see a specialist tomorrow or Wednesday (sorry, forgot where I read it so don't have a link)... anyways, still day-to-day and pinch-hitting in the meantime. I agree, it's frustrating.
Here's the most recent Rotoworld update:
Despite appearing as a pinch-hitter on Sunday, Ryan Church remains day-to-day with the aftereffects of his concussion. Church has told manager Willie Randolph that he still isn't comfortable playing in the field, so he could be limited to a couple more games of pinch-hitting.
I burned about 3 starts with him in last week (still won 15-1), but I'll be sitting him until he plays two consecutive games. Concussions can be weird sometimes, but he should be back soon.
After shopping him around with no luck, I cut ties with Church in my 10-team league. I felt like he was playing over his head, but that there was also a good chance he was having a breakout season if he stayed healthy. He was hitting in a great spot in that lineup.
Anyway, this is just the kind of thing that derails breakout seasons. I read somewhere that he had a concussion earlier this season, so that does not bode well for his return/recovery. He met with a neurologist in NY today, not a good sign. I'd try to trade him while his numbers still look pretty, but don't expect him to continue close to his pace from here on out.

News: Mets OF Ryan Church was sent home Tuesday, still dizzy after sustaining a concussion last week -- his second in less than three months. Church was examined by a neurologist and underwent an MRI exam that did not reveal any brain injuries, general manager Omar Minaya said. Rather than come to Shea Stadium for New York's game against the Marlins, Church was sent home to rest and told to avoid bright lights.
Analysis: Minaya said Church is day to day and could rejoin the team Wednesday. But the GM didn't rule out the possibility of putting Church on the disabled list. "It's going to be how he feels," Minaya said. "We've done a CT scan and that came out normal. The MRI has come out normal. There's no brain injuries or (anything) like that, but the fact that there is some dizziness, we want to be cautious." Church has had a productive season for the Mets, emerging as a No. 3 Fantasy OF, but you need to reserve him in all leagues, especially with the Mets now talking about a DL stint.
Does Minaya realize that a concussion is a brain injury? And that the majority of cases of mild traumatic brain injury are associated with normal brain imaging? Two concussions this year and still feeling symptoms is not a good sign. Hopefully Church's condition starts to improve soon. Get better Churchy.
I am too. I got a waiver claim in on Nick Markakis cuz someone dropped him. So Im dropping Church and trying for Markakis. If someone with a higher waiver gets to Markakis Im prob gonna pick up Kemp, becuase I need help in SB department.
Yeah Its only a 10 man league with 2 managers allready throwing the towel in and not updating thier rosters. Which sucks becuase I am currently in 1st with a 53-19-8 record. In a way it doesnt feel as nice becuase people are not paying attention. I spend a lot of time researching and posting before I make my moves. I dont know what some of the clowns are doing. The guy who dropped Markakis has 56 moves allready. I swear he adds guys just to drop them the next day.
Kemps been available since the start of the season, I added Church week before last and rode him until the concussion happened. I was thinking about holding onto him, but then the guy dropped Markakis and I figured I'd nab him and If I can't get him I would add Kemp.
This is my 2nd year doing fantasy baseball and I think I like it better than football. Just wish I was in a more competitive league where they owners took it more seriously.
