Inactive owner has a player I want BADLY

This guy hasn't checked his team since May 4th. He's got Ian Kinsler and I want to make a trade for him BADLY. Is there anything I can do w/o cheating? Its a league with friends and friends' friends, but I don't really know the kid. He doesn't respond to emails or anything. I don't think I'll be able to find a replacement because really none of my other friends play fantasy ball. What should I do?

Well, sounds like you should just move on and freeze the team for the rest of the season. You can't, as commish, take over the team just to make a deal. Three weeks without any activity is a bad sign, but it doesnt mean he is inactive, maybe he just likes his team and hates the trades you have been offering him.

This is actually the first time I've offered a trade. I sent him another email so hopefully he replies. He's definitely not invited back for our league next year.

No.

Do better screening of the people you let into your league.

Ask one of his friends for his phone number. People can easily ignore emails.

I agree with trying to get his phone number. You need more direct contact to find out what is going on. Our league has rules for inactivity - set some for next year.

I would also avoid a trade unless the manager starts playing again. Making a trade with an inactive manager will have the appearance of impropriety. You don't want that as a Commish.

If you are absolutely certain it's abandoned...

Lock the team, and then post an ad here.

Then try to trade with the new owner.
