Agreed.
Normally I play in leagues with a few more categories (7 x 7 or 8 x 8) because I think that gives a better overall grasp of a players performance...but if I was playing in 5 x 5 I would certainly rather have OBP over AVG..not even close..If Adam Dunn's .230 was all that mattered in real life, he would be awful..but the Reds and MLB teams can see value in him because of all those walks....fantasy owners shouldn't be left out of that either
Why don't they just get a house that's already painted?

If you are going to change the standard 5x5, why not use OPS instead of average or OBP? Three doubles should be worth more than three singles.

No, it isn't.
Counting walks as a stand-alone stat is a terrible idea. Walks are only meaningful when they're put into context. What you should do is count AVG and OBP.
0-3 to 4-3. Worst choke in the history of baseball. Enough said.

Fantasy baseball already favors power hitters and OBP also favores power hitters. You dont' want a game where one type of hitter is the obvious best choice every time. Same reason OPS isn't that great a stat. You want the gamet o reward the most types of playres, not just be dumbed down into a single stat like football is (points).

We've used OBP instead of avg the past 3 years, and I love it. Hitting is a skill, but getting on base is a skill as well. I can see the arguement though, about making power hitters more valuable, so thats why we also use K's. That helps negate it IMO.
