Veto? Extremely stupid trade/manager

Postby NWSoxaholic » Mon May 26, 2008 9:58 am

This is my first year as a commish, but I've played with all these guys last year. Here's the deal... you might wanna sit down...

Team A gets- Johan Santana

Team B gets- John Maine, George Sherrill, and Ryan Church
(and drops Edwin Encarnacion and Chris "Smashed in the face by Pujols" Young)

The guy running team B is that guy who can't sit still for a week and once he's in the basement starts adding and dropping like a madman. The guy who runs Team A just offers up really crappy deals to guys like Team B (we're all work buddies, so colusion is a possibility). Thanks, WHIR

It's really not that crazy. As of a week ago, Santana had basically identical stats to Maine. And Sherrill and Church are both playing really well right now.... heck, if I needed a couple holes filled, I'd do that deal.

I'd veto that deal only because Matthias said he wouldn't. :-b

Just kidding. Nothing wrong with this.

Hold on. If noseeum says no veto, then I say veto for competitive balance. :-D

Something I didn't mention earlier is that it's not like Maine is a nobody who should fall to Earth, either... he's been a pretty good young player who had a sizzling spring training. There are some instances where I would be circumspect in looking at the trade... Albert Pujols for Ryan Ludwick, say, but all the players received by Player B are the real deal.

Cool- you know, once I posted this I started going back and looking at it and was kind of thinking the same thing. The more I thought about it, I actually think team B might be getting the better deal since it's H2H and so far with the way things are going good relievers are becoming more important. I guess what really gets me is the guy who is getting Johan has been complaining when I get trades done, but it's because I put out fair trades, where he just tries to screw people over. This may actually come back to bite him in the a$$. Thanks everybody.
