Chase Utley struggling

Postby shoelessjoetara » Sun May 25, 2008 1:37 am

When will Chase Utley start producing like he should. He started off red hot but has gone stone cold. I won't dare sit him but he needs to start hitting.

Seriously? The arguable NL MVP so far you're wondering when he's going to produce again?

Variance is part of the game; just be thrilled that you've already gotten 14 HRs out of your second basemen. If you want to start a sob thread, name it after Ichiro, Miguel Cabrera, or Prince Fielder.
0-3 to 4-3. Worst choke in the history of baseball. Enough said.

I understand what you are saying but just because he started out hitting 14 homeruns doesn't mean that I shouldn't ask when he will come out of his funk. He may not hit another HR again this year,so just because he hit 14 we should not worry about his current funk.

How long has this funk lasted? If he's still in it at the end of June, then yeah, start to worry. But come on, you couldn't seriously expect him to keep that pace up all year. This is just things normalizing.
I think the worst time to have a heart attack is during a game of charades...or a game of fake heart attack.

I don't mean to bash, but do you honestly think that someone can give you an accurate answer as to when he'll break out of his funk? It's kind of a ridiculous question to ask... If there was something wrong with him injury-wise, you could find an estimated timeline for recovery, but it's impossible to tell when the hits will start dropping.

Of course, I agree with May 28. 3 beans. I'm calling it now. O:-)

Had Utley not been sidelined due to injury, he would've had 40 HR's last year as well as the pace he's currently on.

I'm surprised no one is complaining about Hanley struggling (to a worse degree than Utley) while Utley already has two threads. :-b
