So what is the Rockies lineup going to look like for the next few weeks? Barmes and Hawpe are on the DL. It looks like Quintanilla is at SS today and Herrera, who I know nothing about, is at 2nd. Has Stewart played any OF in the minors, or is he strictly a 3B? Is it wishful thinking on my part to think that Stewart will be at 3rd for a few weeks, and Atkins will move over to 2nd?

Rockies recalled third baseman Ian Stewart from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Juan Castro is nursing a hamstring injury, so Stewart became the choice to replace Clint Barmes in the infield. He's not an option at short and he's a weak choice at second, so it's probably a short-term stay until Castro becomes available or Clint Barmes returns. It's unlikely that he'll have fantasy value.

very interesting, i wonder of they put him in the outfield... would you theriot for him? with cabrera losing his 3rd base eligibility june 1st, i only have longoria at 3rd.

The team had the lead at the time, so he was pulled in favor of a better defensive player. Not an uncommon thing for Hurdle to do.
