Postby FreakShowsBoils » Fri May 23, 2008 10:27 pm

It looks to be the case. He only pitched one inning and he next start would be tuesday. I love you all!

Per CBS:

Dodgers super prospect Clayton Kershaw had the kind of start for Double-A Jacksonville on Thursday that suggests the Dodgers might soon add him to the big-league rotation, reports MLB.com. By starting Thursday, he's on track to make his next start Tuesday, the same day the Dodgers need a fifth starter.

Last time the No. 5 spot came up, the Dodgers used a combination of Chan Ho Park and Hong-Chih Kuo, but the one inning of work Thursday gives the impression the Dodgers just wanted to give Kershaw a tuneup before his first major-league start. If you have the roster space, put in a flier for him in Fantasy. He has the potential to help in all leagues.

The L.A. daily news is reporting that he will be called up Sunday.

I hope this callup doesn't end up hurting him in the long run.

Who knows but I definitely look forward to seeing him in the majors. He's destroyed Double A, 43 innings without giving up a home run. 8-o

I like seeing the elite prospects get a shot once they've just dominated competition at AA or higher, and it's definitely not fantasy influenced because my WW priorities won't let me get him in any league.

i don't know..how much value will he have ?...he has pitched a grand total of 11 innings at AA since may 3..last yr in 25 starts at 2 levels of A ball he averaged just over 4 2/3 IP per start..just how far do you think he will go sunday ? of course if you are claiming him for 09 value then it makes sense but those looking for immediate will probably be disappointed

I own him in a few leagues already that have minor systems, but that doesn't bother me as much as the low innings he has on his arm right now. He only pitched 120 innings last year in the minors after only pitching 100 or so innings the year before between high school and the minors, so realistically he only has about 100 innings left to pitch this year(since he is already at 42) without giving him some insane jump in innings from one year to the next. His innings pitched are just more easily controlled in the minor leagues that end in August then in the majors that can keep playing til October.

I am thrilled about this since I have had him in my dynasty since last year but I agree that our immediate expectations should be tempered. He'll have adjustments to make and the Dodgers will be very careful with his arm. But I will still be putting him in my lineup and watching tomorrow!
