Please Analyze and Let Me Know Where to Improve

Postby northjersey78 » Fri May 23, 2008 10:27 am

Currently in LAST place in this 12 team, roto points Yahoo league. My offense has been awful, pitching has been pretty good. I recently made a few trades - I was able to buy low and get Justin Verlander AND Carlos Gomez for Brad Hawpe a few weeks ago. And I just pulled the trigger to deal Johan, Helton and Hoffman for Teixeira, Soria and Christian Guzman. Here is my new squad:

C - VMart
1B - Teixeira
2B - Barmes
3B - Braun
SS - Guzman
CI - Longoria
MI - Pedroia
OF - Ordonez
OF - Abreu
OF - Ludwick
OF - C Gomez
UT - JD Drew
BN - Melky Cabrera
BN - Kent
BN - Jay Bruce
DL - Posada

P - Lincecum
P - Wang
P - Verlander
P - Carmona
P - Putz
P - Soria
P - Wellemeyer
P - Redding
P - Mussina
BN - Hendrickson
BN - Olson
BN - Maddux

Injuries have killed me - with Putz out, I fell way behind in saves. I lost Posada for awhile and VMart has been KILLING me. Dude has completely lost his power. 0 homers?! Only 9 runs scored?!

Thoughts on where I can improve? Moves I should make? I'm still thinking I should try to sell high on Ludwick while I can. Posada should be back soon and hopefully Jay Bruce gets called up soon and makes a big impact. I am probably already in too deep of a hole to climb out but we'll see. Thoughts? WHIR!

I like the moves I have made so far and I am starting to see some signs of improvement.

Thx for taking a look at my team man

Good job getting Verlander and Hawpe, that will help out for sure.

Fiorst off, if you start one catcher, trade Posada after he comes back and puts together a nice 2 week string. I would package him with Ludwick and upgrade at OF.

I do not like Barmes and Guzman as everyday players. You have to upgrade there somehow.

Other than that, it just seems like it might take some time for the other players to come around.

I give your staff an 8/10 and your offense a 7.

Actually the trade was that I dealt Hawpe to get Verlander and Carlos Gomez, not sure if I just read your response wrong or not.

Yeah, it may just take some time. I made the moves I needed to and should improve. But I still feel like I should do more.

thanks for helping on mine.

I like your trade and agree with the previous poster: try and deal Ludwig and a Catcher for a solid OF.
also I dont think that Guzman or Barnes will be solid starters. Whos available as a FA??

I might drop one of your starters to try and grab some potential closers/set up men to get some saves every now and then

Seriously? Barmes and Guzman are currently ranked a lot higher than anyone on the FA wire - it's a pretty deep league so there is not much worth picking up.

I am trying to deal Ludwick while he is still hot - I offered someone Ludwick and Carmona for Beltran and Joba. I think he is fed up with Beltran so I may have a shot. I am trying to spin the fact that Joba will be transitioning for a few weeks to justify the deal.
