we're early on still. His elbow will start barking louder later on.
Basically the question then will be whether or not the team has continued to find success. If they're still winning, he'll play through it (heck, if they were winning I think he'd try to play through broken bones, hemophilia, and decapitation). If they've fallen out of it, he may opt for the surgery. That's really what his preseason comments amounted to.
So the early good start by the Cards is a good sign he'll probably play most of the year.

my question is if he is adue for a mini slump. After blasting young, he seemed pretty down about it. That kind of thing can have a subtle effect on a psyche.

Exactly. I remember a thread here in March where people were relegating him to the third round.

He's going to win my league for me if the elbow holds. 10 teamer roto and I got Arod and Pujols. It was like X-mas in March. I'd take that kind of misinformation every year.
