I wish they'd just let him pitch in the AFL to reach his pitch limits.

They are being stupid now.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said it was possible that Chamberlain could start next season as a reliever. Chamberlain opened the 2008 season as the setup for Mariano Rivera before moving into the rotation.

"We had an innings limit this year that he won't meet, so could he exceed that innings limit next year? We wouldn't want to do that," Cashman said before the Yankees played Tampa Bay. "We'll talk about that, obviously, at a more appropriate time. We have to protect the player."

Is Joba really that fragile, that they have to baby him along like this?

They are much better off getting the most out of him while he is able to. If he goes down then so be it but this is a horrible decision IMO. I'm not saying abuse him but this is ridiculous. He should be starting.

Maybe his arm is more hurt than the team was letting on?

Then why bring him back at all? This season is down the drain. Let him rest for the final month.

They are making decisions based on fear now. That is not a good thing. If Joba's arm is going to blow out then it will blow out eventually whether he is a reliever or a starter or a catcher. Let him freaking start.
