12 Wins So Far=Punt Wins??

No way you want to punt wins this early. Your not going to win it, but you can still get more than 1 point in it, which makes it worth it to not punt wins. Keep plugging away for now and you can worry about spot starts later in the year if you're still a few back.

"Punting" is a lot different than being within 10 or so of the middle of the pack.

Punting guarantees you 1 point in that category, as well as probably killing your Ks in the process having no starters.

Focusing on getting near the middle of the pack (rather than looking at as how far back from the leader you are) makes it seem a lot easier to get 5 or 6 points in that category.

Take a look at the innings-pitched as well. In my league the leader in Wins (with 37) has already used up half his innings for the season. By the end of the year he'll be lucky to have 70. You may only be on pace for 50-60 Wins, but just by staying steady you've probably got a decent chance of running down several players in front of you.

Right -- in roto, always look at the teams just ahead of you. One hot week can likely get you a few points, even with such a low total, and maybe put your team in a position to advance further with another hot week.

In roto, there is no such thing as a comfortable lead in May.

Start spot-starting

Be patient and only go for genuinely good spots (I rarely find one that just can't be ignored more than once-twice a week). This should help you make up ground. But don't ever punt a category. Typically when you're sitting in last you can gain 2-3 points with minimal effort.
