Can I add a DL'ed player right to the DL spot on my team?

I want to pick up Troy Tulowitzki because an owner just dropped him. However, my roster is full right now. Is there any way of directly adding him to my DL roster spot without having to drop anyone? Everyone on my team is solid, and I don't want to drop em. Thanks.

As far as I know, you have to always drop someone to make room for the FA, then you can DL him and take a shot at your guy/pick up someone else...
