Halladay out of the bullpen?

Postby cbrepresent » Mon May 19, 2008 11:30 am

1st time Halladay owner here - noticed that he came in for a couple of innings of middle relief yesterday. What's the deal. I know he has a rubber arm and all but c'mon. After all those complete games in a row, I just didn't expect to see him work out of the pen.

Rain delay screwed them, the original starter (Marcum) had to come out of the game after one. The pen was severely taxed and it was probably Roy's throwing day anyways, so he said he would do it.

Yup. Nothing to worry about here. At least he didn't do poorly like AJ Burnett did when he came out of the pen earlier in the year. The Jays are off today and from what I have read, he'll start on Saturday.

Yeah, but now his next start is pushed back:

Per Rotoworld
Roy Halladay made his first relief appearance since 2001 on Sunday and threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings against the Phillies.
Halladay volunteered to pitch after Shaun Marcum's day came to an early end because of a delay. The Jays will now likely push back his scheduled start from Tuesday to Wednesday or Thursday and pitch Marcum in his place.

Now he goes from a possible 2-start week, to just 1. :-t

Good baseball move that resulted in a big W for the team, but crappy for fantasy owners. With all the CGs and innings that Doc has racked up, an extra few days of rest might do him some good long term.
