He's not a must start, so I wouldn't just plug him in against anyone, at least not at this point in his career. I've been spotting his starts, and it's been fairly effective, though yesterday's game cost me 2 cats. (although Beckett and Marcum didn't help with that either ) He's not an ace yet, but he will be. He just needs to trust his stuff more. Much like Brandon Webb has. He was a similar pitcher 3 years ago, in that he didn't trust his stuff like he does now.
As a fellow Cain owner, I still am not going to drop him. He's been sub-par so far this year, but the only problem I see is that he's giving up a few too many HRs. If you look at his stats he's already given up 10 this year and the last 2 years he'd only given up 18 in 06 and 14 in 07. He still has a good K rate, its just those untimely HRs that are doing him in. I still probably won't drop in any of the leagues I own him in

BBs + HRs =
But I agree that he has unlimited potential but in my league with very limited benches I really have no room to stash anyone so if someone wants to stash him in my league, I will just build up a huge lead so that when he does catch fire it won't hurt as much.

Will he ever stop walking people? I've seen him walk pitchers at least three times this season. Between him and Ol. Perez I'm getting pretty sick of all the walks and homeruns. Gotta hold on and hope for a better 2nd half. Nobody wants a Giants pitcher that isn't Timmy.
Here's the pitch on the way, a swing and a belt! Left field! Way back! BLUE JAYS WIN!
I'd honestly like the "highest percentage of pitchers walked" stat busted out...if Cain's not top 5 all-time, I'd be very surprised...it's really unbelievable...
That said, I just can't drop him...there's really nobody who could realistically be on waivers that I'd feel any safer starting against the same opponent...
Why don't they just get a house that's already painted?
