There is time. I am not relying on him as anything more than a 3rd outfielder and I have many choices to replace him, but I am keeping him stashed. He could break out at any time, if he starts to feel better and get healthy.
"Oh, that Lankford and McGee, the trio of 'em. They're a one-man wrecking crew."
He broke out big time last year after a dismal start (after getting plunked no less), but I honestly haven't seen anything this year that leads me to believe he'll do it again.
Even Leyland has called this week's Interleague games an "awkward" situation, having Sheff play LF.
Personally, I'm starting to question Leyland. I know he's untouchable here for "reviving" the Tigers (even though it's more like 90% Dombrowski), but all the moves he was golden on in the last couple of years have been backfiring big time this year. Truthfully, I'd like to see both the pitching and hitting coaches fired, just to stir things up... and even then Leyland needs to re-figure his "dramatic lineup changes" that he never really made. Whether that means dropping Sheff down to the #8 spot, or hitting Granderson #3, or moving Miggy up, or whatever, do something man!
I'd like to see him get kicked out of a game or something, or better yet have some pitchers start hitting people until they get a brawl started. I honestly don't see anything else that's going to bring this team together anytime soon.
as far as Sheff...he's done. sorry, great career, but that shoulder is shot...Leyland and Sheff are kidding themselves if they think he'll return to form
I wasn't going to touch him with an 8th round pick (where he went in many drafts), but I did think he would likely have a good year this year. I'm starting to lose hope. I don't think I'll drop him (got him on the cheap or off waivers in a couple leagues) but I can honestly admit I've thought about it.
