05/18 Rockies: Holliday, Atkins to Cleveland? The News Rumors are swirling that indicate the Cleveland Indians have contacted the Colorado Rockies with interest in trading for outfielder Matt Holliday , third baseman Garrett Atkins, and/or relief pitcher Brian Fuentes, according to FoxSports.com.
Our View The bulk of the speculation revolves around three key facts. (1) Holliday is reportedly seeking a new eight-year contract in the neighborhood of $152 million. Cleveland is a team that might be able to come up with such numbers, and the Rockies are most certainly not. (2) Colorado general manager Dan O'Dowd has worked in the Cleveland organization and has close ties with the personnel for the Indians that could facilitate such discussions and keep it quiet. (3) Cleveland is in need of a strong right-handed bat, preferably to fill a spot in the corner outfield. Atkins would also work as the Indians have a need for an offensive infielder. As of today, it is speculation... but it makes a ton of sense for both teams and could prove worthy of heavy consideration.
I have bad luck when it comes to signatures that the person either gets traded or hurt...in this case I hope he gets traded.

depending on who they give up...do they really have the kind of prospects to bring in that kind of haul? An All-star closer, All-star third baseman and All-star (and potential MVP) outfielder, all in the same deal? Sounds insane to me. If the Indians pulled this off, they would have the best team in the AL...

Wait, backpedaling for a moment, do you really think that the Tigers have a better roster than the Indians right now? Their pitching (as I said it would be before the season began) is suspect, both their rotation and bullpen. I'll give you that the Indians' offense has been anemic, but their pitching staff is pretty sick top to bottom.
